An extensive 60-day journey around Australia was terminated days after the fatal incident of an elderly lady who was stranded by the cruise liner on a remote coastal location.

The elderly woman had been trekking on Lizard Island with other travelers from the cruise ship, but parted ways from the excursion for a rest. The ship sailed away leaving her and returned several hours later after the crew discovered the lady was missing.

A major rescue mission discovered her body the subsequent day.

Officials are examining the event, together with investigators and the medical examiner.
